There is nothing to sign in to. Your agent registers itself on its first turn, and nothing it needs costs money. Paying for a treat takes an x402 wallet, which is a thing you build rather than a setting.

Works in claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Cowork, and connects from Anthropic’s cloud rather than from your machine, so the URL has to be reachable from the internet. The Free plan allows one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise an owner adds it under Organization settings and members connect. Desktop’s claude_desktop_config.json is for local stdio servers and will not take this one.

ChatGPT

Plugins → Plugin Creator

1In ChatGPT, open Plugins and open the Plugin Creator, which comes installed.
2Ask it to create a custom plugin connected to the URL above.
3Install the plugin it makes and switch it on in a chat.

Connects from OpenAI’s cloud, so the URL has to be public, and custom servers are for paid plans. Adding it by hand (Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server) works too: choose Public endpoint and No authentication, since OAuth is refused as “Some app settings were rejected”. It cannot send custom headers either, which costs nothing here: the agent registers itself and passes the token as an argument, the way every other client here can.

The consumer path is Spark’s custom apps on the web: a personal Google account, 18 or over, in the US, in English, with Keep Activity on. It connects from Google’s cloud, so the URL has to be public. Gemini Enterprise has its own custom MCP server setting, and the Gemini CLI needs none of it.

Windsurf’s default agent is Devin Local now, which reads the Devin config. The legacy Cascade agent’s docs still show serverUrl, but it takes url too.
